Hi! My name is Tina Wilson (she/her/hers) and I am the owner/operator of Rise Up Rooted Health & Fitness Co. I am so happy that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to visit my website and learn more about Rise Up Rooted.
Looking back, coaching has always been an integral part of my work. Starting in my late teens and early twenties I was both a swim instructor and a competitive swim coach. When I graduated from university I transferred those coaching skills from a sports performance model into a rehabilitation model working as an occupational therapist (OT). I assisted individuals in regaining their function while recovering from illness and/or injury. I had worked as an OT for fourteen years prior to stepping back and returning to my roots in health and fitness promotion. Fast forward, I am now a passionate health and fitness coach! I am grateful to bring these past experiences into a field that aligns with my own personal values and beliefs. My mission is to help support and guide individuals to engage in meaningful and sustainable health and fitness practices. With a passion for coaching women across the lifespan, I remain curious about how to apply the science of our female physiology and anatomy to different health and fitness practices.
I am also someone who has lived experience on both sides of the health and fitness continuum. At one point in my life I lived a relatively sedentary lifestyle with poor nutrition and self-care practices. I have a deep understanding of how difficult it can be to make changes to our health and fitness. I understand the courage that is required to acknowledge that something has to change and the strength and support needed to make those often necessary changes. I have experienced the discomfort that comes with change, and have needed to come to a place of understanding that the journey never truly ends. However, I also know that when you put your health first the investment is so worth it! Nothing is sweeter then feeling strong, capable, confident and unstoppable in our bodies,
Many of my own movement practices involve spending time in nature, both in solitude and with loved ones. I experience the most joy when I am trail running, hiking, back country camping, or playing in my west coast backyard. I am also an aspiring gardener and a passionate home cook.
